About us

We are an open, welcoming, and Christ-centered community where people of all ages and abilities can find caring and acceptance, be formed and nurtured in faith, and go out into the community to make a difference in the name of the Gospel.

We invite all people to experience the fullness of God's love through Jesus Christ.

St. Stephen's is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Every Sunday we have an Indoor In Person Service at 8 am and an Outdoor Church Service at 9:30 am .  If the weather is poor, we will have the 9:30 am church service indoors.  The Outdoor Church Service is held by the Columbarium (north side of the building on the lawn).  Please bring your own chair. At this time, there will be no Children's Chapel.

Come worship with us and pray with us at the table of the Lord.

What we Believe

  • We believe in God, in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit.
  • The First Person of the Trinity, traditionally called 'Father', created all things at the beginning of time.
  • Jesus Christ, the human rabbi from over 2000 years ago, was and is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Trinity, and our Savior.
  • The Bible, the Holy Scriptures, are the word of God, written by human beings under the guidance of and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who is the Third Person of the Trinity.  The Bible contains all things necessary for salvation.
  • We are brought together bu our love of God in Christ Jesus, by our shared traditions and experiences of God in worship and the life of the community.
  • Our faith is a living faith, and our church is a community, not an idea.
  • Jesus welcomed everyone to the table and so do we.
  • The complete teachings and beliefs of the Episcopal Church can be found in the "Outline of Faith: in the Book of Common Prayer.

St. Stephen's History

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church was formed in 1964 when parishioners from Trinity Mission joined with parishioners from St. Paul's Cathedral to build St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on five donated acres in Fairview Township. St. Stephen's Nursery School started in 1968.

The church experienced its first expansion in 1969 with the addition of an education wing.  Then in 1997, St. Stephen's expanded again adding more education areas, a library, chapel, and remodeled the offices and kitchen.

In 2017 St. Stephen's became a mission church and is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

The wisdom from the early founders of Trinity Episcopal Church to the present day St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, is seen in the continuing outreach and service to Fairview, the surrounding communities, and the world.  The importance of an effective Christian Education program, with both the children and adults, is vital to the spiritual growth of the church.  We have partnered with the Charter School of Excellence providing food bags to the students in need as well as winter wear.  In addition, the Glory of God Garden provides fresh vegetables and herbs to the local Food Banks.

The parishioners of St. Stephen's are our most valuable asset.  Our congregation continues to be interested in the needs of our people and the community around them and dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.
